Councilmember Donald Rocha earned his seat representing the District 9 community on the San Jose City Council in the November 2010 election. The council district is located between Willow Glen and Almaden Valley, in the southwest corner of San Jose, bordering Campbell and Los Gatos. Councilmember Rocha was born and raised in San Jose, attending both Del Mar and Archbishop Mitty High Schools. He attended West Valley College and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a Minor in Philosophy from San Diego State University. Prior to being elected to the San Jose City Council, Donald served as a Cambrian School District Board Member. Councilmember Rocha has a strong background in economic development from his long commitment to public service, working for various state and local agencies and for the San José Redevelopment Agency (SJRA). He serves as a Member on the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) Board and Chair of the VTA Transit Planning and Operations Committee. He also serves as the Vice Chair of the Neighborhood Services & Education Committee, a member of the Transportation & Environment Committee and Airport Competitiveness Committee of the San Jose City Council.
